Submitting your Tax Return through Pulse

This feature is an add-on to Essentials Core packages

Sending your tax return to HMRC through Pulse is quick and simple.

View your tax calculation

Once you’ve completed your accounts for the year, head to the SA302 Estimated Tax Calculation screen within your reports. If you’re happy with the information included, choose the ‘Tax Return Submission’ button on the right hand side to start the process

This will then take you to the SA100 Tax Return submission screens.

Tax Data Verification

The first screen provides details of the self employment information taken from your accounts. These are the figures which will be submitted to HMRC.

The numbers are taken from your Pulse accounts. If they are incorrect or you need to add something else, press ‘Cancel’ and return to your accounts to update the relevant details.

If all is good, click ‘Proceed’.

Verify Tax Details

To submit your return, Pulse needs to know your Unique Tax Reference (UTR) number and National Insurance Number (NIN). If you’ve already added these to the system, they will be displayed on screen.

If not, you’ll need to update these in your profile.

Pulse will also check you have populated

  • Date of Birth
  • Marital Status
  • Address (on the next screen)

And also that you have provided permission to MalgraBooks to access your HMRC Account, and (if applicable) completed any AML (Anti Money Laundering) checks. Don’t worry, if anything is missing, Pulse will let you know and explain how to correct the issue.

Address Verification

The next screen provides a verification of your home address, in this screenshot it shows our official office address.

This is to ensure the correct tax is calculated and for verification purposes.

You can update the relevant fields here, and they will be updated on your account.

Confirm and Submit

You will be provided with a brief confirmation, along with a declaration.

Before ticking the declaration, please ensure you understand the details which are being submitted to HMRC.

Once confirmed, the system will start processing the return and submit to HMRC for you.

Once complete, you’ll receive an email to explain the outcome of the submission and the next steps.
