The financial year runs from 6 April until 5 April the following year, and a tax return is due for submission by the end of the following January.
In line with HMRC’s annual cycle of reporting and requirements, MalgraBooks have a similar calendar whereby services and products availability changes and adapts based on the current date within the annual cycle.
As we prepare and report to HMRC through several of our services, we need to ensure we have timely and accurate information. It’s a fundamental requirement of bookkeeping and accounting that business records are kept up to date and are precise – therefore to ensure we can provide the best possible service to our members, we have specific deadline dates when specific features and services are available.

Example: The latest date available to signup for MalgraBooks Advanced for the 22/23 financial year would be 31 October 2023 (last working day)*.
Dates may change slightly based on how weekend/weekdays fall and bank holidays.
* Subject to availability. Where we are at capacity earlier, service availability will be affected and close in advance of these dates.

Availability of Managed Services
We generally close signup of new packages for managed services (such as Advanced and Premium packages) at the end of October following the end of the financial year.
However we do have capacity limitations for these services, therefore they may close earlier than the dates listed above where we have ‘run out of spaces’.
Availability of Instalment Payments for Managed Services
We discontinue the option of paying by instalment for managed services in the July following the end of the financial year.
For example, in the 22/23 financial year (running from 6 April 22 – 5 April 23), this option would not be available from 1 July 2023.
Availability of non-Managed Services
Non-Managed Services (such as MalgraBooks Essentials) also have restrictions on dates of availability.
One key aspect of guidance from HMRC in regards to running a small business or being self employed is to keep up to date records for the tax year.
Therefore it is difficult for MalgraBooks to provide services for a period which finished over 10 months ago – and has a very short turnaround period for purposes of submission.
As such, MalgraBooks Essentials will not be available to purchase from mid January, where the submission deadline for the relevant year is 31 January. Our team will announce the actual date based on the calendar year through our member dashboard portal.
